Nielsen's State of the Media: U.S. [Device] Consumer Usage Report 2012 provides an overview of U.S. device usage and audiences--from mobile phones to tablets to television.
Select facts:
- 289 million people own at least one television and nearly 120 million people, within homes owning televisions, own four or more TV sets.
- Smartphone owners officially make up the majority of mobile subscribers, as 56% owned a smartphone as of Q3 2012.
- Women spend more time than men watching traditional TV, 153 hours a month in total.
- 162 million Americans watch online video, averaging 5.9 hours per person in a month.
- Top smartphone shoppers' activity is locating a store (78%).
